Hundreds travel passes have been confiscated by the Department of Social Protection - in a major crackdown on fraud.
Irish Rail Revenue Protection Officers carried out a blitz of checks on train services around the country, last Saturday, December 7th.
Over 300 were taken away for verification. Those found with out of date passes or to be using them in a fraudulent manner had their pass confiscated and were issued with a fine of up to €100.
