Gardaí are investigating after part of a human body was discovered by a fishing vessel off Castletownbere in County Cork.
Gardaí said the crew found “what was believed to be human remains” around 180 nautical miles from the Cork town at around 2:30am on Saturday morning.
The boat docked in Castletownbere on Sunday morning.

The remains were taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem was carried out today.
DNA samples have been taken and Gardaí are working to establish the person’s gender and find out who they were.
