2 men treated for injuries after Dublin shooting

A forensics team has arrived at the scene of a shooting in Dublin last night.

A father and son were attacked at a housing estate in Ballyfermot.

Emergency services were called to Clifden Drive after locals heard gunfire at around 10.20 pm.

Upon arrival, they found a father and son with gunshot wounds. The injured men were taken to St. James' Hospital.

Gardaí say they were both shot in the back but there injuries are not life-threatening and they are expected to pull through.

Shortly after the attack, a car was found burning at nearby Croftswood Crescent.

Detectives believe this was used as a getaway car and have taken it away for tests.

Back at the scene of the shooting, a forensics team is already combing the area for clues as gardaí try to establish a motive for the attack.

This local resident, who did not want to be named, says he left his house to investigate after hearing gunfire:

The men's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí in Ballyfermot are appealing to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in Clifden Drive area of Ballyfermot between 10 pm and 10.30 pm to contact them.
