New beds have opened in Dublin in a bid to provide shelter for some of the city's homeless people.

Bru Aimsir on Thomas Street has space for 100 rough sleepers.

Recently released figures show more than 1,400 children are in emergency accommodation across Ireland.

Thomas has nowhere to live and spends most nights at the Merchants Quay shelter.

"I was sleeping out because I wasn't really up to the system - I didn't get much schooling but I keep away from trouble, I don't like trouble" he said.

"I pray to myself and I jump on buses, killing time...I can't wait to get back".

"Once I'm inside this door I do be very happy" he added.

December 1st marks the one year anniversary of the death of Jonathan Corrie, who was discovered not far from Leinster House.

Twelve months on, the Pat Kenny Show is looking at what has changed - and what has not.
