Staff at the HMV store on Cruises Street in Limerick are this afternoon in talks with the company's receiver Deloitte.

Employees are staging sit-ins at a number of the retailer's branches across the country, over fears they won't be paid wages owed to them.

Staff at branches in Limerick, Cork and Dublin began their protests after HMV stores across Ireland were closed on Wednesday following the appointment of receivers.

Deloitte says it will make every effort to find a buyer for it's Irish stores

HMV operates 16 stores in the Republic of Ireland and employs approximately 300 people.

In a statement the receiver Deloitte has said it will "institute an assessment of the viability of the company and its cost structure, including property occupational costs".

It also says that all efforts will be made to secure a purchaser for the stores.
