Gunmen in southern Yemen have killed 16 people, including four Catholic nuns, at a retirement home run by a charity established by Mother Teresa.

Yemeni security officials said four gunmen entered the home in Aden on the pretext that they wanted to visit their mothers at the facility.

There are 80 residents living at the home run by Missionaries of Charity.

The bodies were later transferred to a hospital run by Médecins Sans Frontières.
