Around €70 million has been announced in funding for school improvements.

€28 million of the funding will be paid out to primary schools in the coming weeks for small repair works.

A further €40 million is being made available under the Summer Works programme for next year. The grant aid will allow schools to undertake building works such as mechanical works, roof and window upgrades and structural improvements.

The grants had been suspended in recent years and have now been reinstated by the Department of Education.
