The Taoiseach says he can understand the anger and the rage provoked in people by the leaked secret anglo tapes.

Two former executives at the now zombie bank have denied they tried to mislead the Central Bank about the extent of the crisis at the institution.

Taped phone calls between John Bowe and Peter Fitzgerald - obtained by the Independent.ie - indicate the bank deliberately hid the scale of the problem from the government.

Appearing in Dublin in the aftermath of the tapes' release, Taoiseach Enda Kenny says he's constrained by what he can say, given there's a garda investigation.

Speaking to reporters at Dublin Castle this morning, Mr. Kenny promised an Oireachtas banking inquiry, and acknowledged the anger of people that the Government was fooled into giving money to Anglo:
