Two visitors to Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary believe they have photographic evidence of a ghost within the prison. During an audio tour, a British woman from Birmingham stopped to take a photo of an empty visitation block on her iPhone. When she looked back through the photos, a dark female figure was visible in the photo.
Initially, the couple believed the figure to be a reflection, but both say the woman's hair and clothing is from a different era. Officials in Alcatraz have dismissed suggestions of hauntings, despite multiple claims of ghost sightings from visitors.
Formerly a maximum high security prison, Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary was in operation from 1934 - 1963. Long considered one of the most haunted prisons in the United States, Alcatraz housed the notorious Al Capone, George "Machine Gun" Kelly and Robert Stroud, the infamous Birdman of Alcatraz amongst others during its 29 years in operation.
