The Tánaiste says comments from Gerry Adams this morning about the findings of the Smithwick Tribunal report do the peace process no favours.

On Newstalk this morning, Gerry Adams claimed a lax attitude by the two murdered RUC officers was one of the reasons for their killing.

The comments have been quoted in the Dáil, with the Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin calling for the "insulting" remarks to be withdrawn.

Eamon Gilmore says the comments were wrong.

But Mr. Adams refused to withdraw his comments.

While the Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin wants a full debate on the report.
