While his movie Mad Max: Fury Road is currently nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Picture, George Miller took some time out of his busy schedule to have a sit down chat with The Hollywood Reporter.
Highlights of the interview include what's next on his slate (two more Mad Max sequels are on the horizon, but won't be his next projects), his unhappy time directing The Witches Of Eastwick and the unique advice given to him by Jack Nicholson, perhaps the best nugget for film fans is when he reveals his conversations with iconic director Stanley Kubrick.
While directing Babe, Miller reached out to Kubrick initially for advice on the special visual effects involved, but eventually the two become good telephone buddies, without ever actually having met.
“Every night, we’d sit and talk for a long, long time, and talk about the process and I knew he was very, very intrigued about what could be happening," he said.
The segment of the interview involving Kubrick can be seen below, while the entire conversation can be found here.
Earlier this week, Miller was announced as the president of this year's Cannes Film Festival jury, presiding over conversations about who should win the Palm d'Or award this May.
