George Hook has issued a "warm" welcome to Donald Trump ahead of his upcoming visit to Co Clare.
In a heated discussion on The Right Hook today with Green Party leader Eamon Ryan, George said he had no qualms about the presumptive Republican presidential nominee coming to Ireland.
Trump is due to visit his hotel in Doonbeg before returning to the US on June 25th, and Hook insisted: "Trump has done more for Co Clare than the Green Party ever did."
Ryan is part of a political alliance formed to protest against the businessman's visit.
The "Trump Not Welcome" group has agreed to hold demonstrations in Dublin and Clare in what they call a display of “international solidarity against racism, sexism and discrimination”.
Hook told the Green Party leader "if you are down in Ennis protesting, I’ll be down there beside you welcoming Trump."
The presenter also questioned the credentials of Hillary Clinton, who yesterday claimed the Democratic presidential nomination.
"I think you’re picking and choosing your targets," he told Ryan. "This is the first time where an individual has been targeted instead of the office. There are as many people in America that dislike Hillary Clinton as dislike Trump.
"The biggest problem is we possibly have two of the most disliked people running for President."
