Gay rights groups today hosted the annual 'March for Marriage' in the capital where at least five thousand people turned out.
The event has attracted over 20-thousand supporters over the last four years and organisers, 'Noise', say its important to keep the pressure on the Government to hold a referendum on marriage equality next year.
International opposition to Russia's new anti-gay laws were also highlighted this afternoon.
The bill introduced this summer criminalizes support for 'non-traditional' relationships.
Russian lawmakers say the it doesn't outlaw homosexuality but merely discourages discussion of it among people younger than 18.
However, the law has outraged the international community just six months before the start of the Winter Olympic Games in the Russian city of Sochi.
