A group campaigning for a No vote in the referendum on same-sex marriage says a Yes vote would compromise the future of children.
The Mothers and Fathers Matter group says the referendum would change the legal role of the family - even though the government says otherwise.
The group says the referendum would mean the State would no longer be able to give preference to traditional families, with a mother and father.
It says a Yes vote would lead to a 'new form of austerity' against Irish children.
Professor Ray Kinsella is chairman of the group. He says he believes in respect for 'all loving relationships' - but adds that they are 'not all the same'.
He says a No vote on May 22nd would be best for Irish children.
And Kate Bopp of Mothers and Fathers Matter says children from homes where a mother or father is absent are at a disadvantage.
Meanwhile, the Yes campaign say it hopes the debate over the next five weeks is 'respectful'.
