Gardaí uncover suspected cannabis grow house in Carlow

Gardaí have uncovered a suspected cannabis grow house containing 170 “mature cannabis plants” in County Carlow.

Investigators said the plants were found on the Tullow Road area of Carlow Town this afternoon.

Gardaí said the plants were found alongside a “significant quantity of harvested plant material.”

They estimated the value of the haul at around €235,000.

A man in his 30s was arrested and is being held Carlow Garda Station.

Gardaí are continuing to carry out a forensic investigation of the house.

Meanwhile, Revenue Detector Dog Bailey helped uncover 1kg of cannabis at the Dublin Mail Centre today.

The drugs valued at of €20,000 were hidden in two packages labelled as ‘diaries.’

The drugs came from South Africa and were destined for an address on the north side of the city.
Yesterday meanwhile, Revenue officers uncovered 9kg of the stimulant Khat at the Portlaoise Mail Centre.

The Khat, valued at €4,500 was sent in from Ethiopia and was on its way to an address in the Dublin city centre.
