Gardai appeal over gangland-style Dublin murder yesterday

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a gangland-style murder in Dublin yesterday to come forward. 27-year-old father of three Michael Kelly from the south inner-city was shot dead along the red Luas line near the Grand Canal crossing in Kilmainham.

The gunman is described as being around 6-foot-tall and wearing a sky-blue hoodie with white shoulders.

A firearm was discovered in a metallic grey-lilac Opel Astra car with registration 99-LH-5711 which was found on fire a short distance away at Rialto Court. The vehicle has been removed for technical examination.

Gardaí at Kilmainham have launched a murder inquiry and are making a number of appeals. They are appealing to passengers on two Luas trams which passed the scene at the time of the shooting at around 10.30am yesterday morning to contact them.

Garda spokesperson Superintendent David Taylor - is also seeking information about the distinctive-coloured getaway car found at nearby Rialto Court.
