Gardai were involved in the search of what is being described as an illegal abattoir in county Monaghan earlier today.

It's understood the search took place at around 3 o'clock near Clones.

Officials from the Department of Agriculture's Investigation Division also provided assistance.

Two me were questioned at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

Investigations are continuing.
