Gardaí take part in annual remembrance run in memory of their fallen colleagues

Members of an Garda Siochána have taken part in a 5K run in memory of their fallen colleagues Adrian Donohoe and Tony Golden today.

Around 65 officers joined the more than 3,500 people estimated to have taken part in the Athletics Ireland annual remembrance run, which got underway in Phoenix Park at 11am this morning.

The event is in its 4th year, and brings people together to remember their loved ones who have passed away.

Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe, who was killed while on duty almost three years ago, is being honoured today.

Today's run took place four weeks after the gunning down of Garda Tony Golden in the town of Omeath, Co Louth.

Members of Garda Tony Golden's class at Templemore College, his colleagues in Louth and retired gardaí were all wearing blue singlets in solidarity with his family following the fatal shooting.

These gardaí doing the run today said they were honored to be representing the force, and to be paying tribute to their colleagues:

Organiser Frank Grealy said he hopes the garda participation will offer some small comfort to the families of the two officers:
