Gardaí from the regional support units and the Revenue Customs Service helped local officers to carry out a planned early morning search of a premises at Proleek, Ravensdale, where the tobacco, empty pouches, equipment for sealing pouches and boxes of cigarettes were uncovered along with alcohol labels and 60 litres of what appears to be un-distilled alcohol.

The value of the haul is being estimated at €850,000.

The scene has been sealed off while investigations continue. No arrests have yet been made.
