Gardaí in Dublin have charged a man and a woman after an officer was hit by a stolen car last night. 

The incident happened in Balbriggan in north County Dublin at around 11pm.

The officer was struck by the vehicle while attempting to get it to stop.

He was rushed to Beaumont Hospital, where his injuries have been described as serious.

Two other Gardaí received minor injuries, one requiring hospital treatment at Beaumont.
