Gardaí are investigating a serious assault in Douglas in County Cork at the weekend.

A 23-year-old man received serious injuries when he was attacked in the laneway between the areas of Grange Road and Grange Heights in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries, where he remains today.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the vicinity of Grange Road between the hours of 1.30 and 2am on Sunday morning to contact them.
