Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash in Co. Tipperary on Friday night which claimed the life of a young man.

A 22-year-old man was seriously injured when the car he was driving collided with a second car on the N75 in Thurles, just before 11. 

He was taken by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to Cork University Hospital where he was pronounced dead late last night.

The driver of the second car - also aged 22 - was taken to Hospital with minor injures and later discharged.
