After a largely dry start any mist will clear and there will be sunny spells. Cloud in the north will bring rain this morning.
The rain will push southwards over the country through the course of the day, clearing again to sunny spells and scattered showers later.
The rain may linger in to the evening in the southeast.
Highest temperatures 7 to 9 degrees in the north, and between 9 and 12 degrees in the south with moderate to fresh northerly winds.
Tonight
Tonight rain may turn to snow over the Wicklow mountains for a time and there will be wintry showers in the north too.
But most other parts of the country will become dry with clear spells.
Lowest temperatures between zero and minus two degrees with moderate northerly winds persisting.
