Gardaí have travelled to Romania to interview a man in connection with the murder of Francis Dunne in Cork city last month.

The remains of the 64-year-old father-of-three were found in the garden of a derelict house on the Boreenmanna Road in late December.

The remains were partially dismembered.

This afternoon, Gardaí said they had taken numerous statements in relation to the investigation, including one form the man in Romania.

They have completed their door-to-door inquiries and have gathered CCTV footage from the surrounding area.

Speaking at Anglesea Street Garda Station today, Chief Superintendent Barry McPolin said investigators are renewing their call for information.

“We would like to thank those who have come forward and provided us with vital information into this horrific murder, but we need more,” he said.

“Anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant they think it is, I would ask that they pick up the phone and contact us.”

Investigators are anxious to speak to anyone who was in the Boreenmanna Road area of Cork city between 7 pm and midnight on Friday 27th December.

The investigation is ongoing and Gardaí said several lines of enquiry are being pursued.
