Four people have been killed and five others have been injured after a shooting at a bar in Kansas City in the US.

The shooting took place just before 1.30am local time at the Tequila KC bar in the city.

A spokesperson for Kansas City police said they found handgun casings at the scene.

However, it is now not clear whether there were one or more shooters or what the motive is.

A manhunt is now underway at the Midwestern city to find the assailant.

More than 40 mass shootings have occurred in the US so far this year.

Since 2012, such incidents have been defined as shootings that kill at least three people.
