A former Garda has been sent forward for trial charged with stealing cannabis from a Garda station and perverting the course of justice.

Finally he is also charged with stealing a bag of cannabis herb worth €560 from Sundrive Garda Station on May 27th 2010 and possession of cocaine for sale or supply at Ormond Quay on January 31st 2011.

The trial is expected to last up to 5 weeks.

Indicated he will plead not guilty

It is listed to begin on January 13th next at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Mr. Cooper has indicated that he will enter not guilty pleas to the charges.

The case is listed for mention on March 4th to hear details of disclosure relating to internal disciplinary proceedings which were partly initiated against the former Garda.

A pre-trial hearing will take place on November 21st 2013.
