The US Secretary of State has called on Western and Arab foreign ministers to give more support to Syrian rebels.

John Kerry's told the Friends of Syria group to 'end the imbalance' between opposition fighters and the Assad regime.

The meeting - which is taking place in Doha - is the first since the US government announced it would provide weapons to the rebels.

The ministers will also discuss how to provide humanitarian aid to those in need.

Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague says the situation in Syria is getting increasingly desperate.
