A flood alert has been issued for Cork city for later this afternoon.
A combination of a tidal surge at around 5pm, southerly winds, low pressure and a high spring tide are expected to lead to tidal flooding.
Low laying areas of the city centre are most at risk - including the quays, South Mall, Crosses Green, Sharman Crawford Street and Stable Lane.
The city council says the main impact is expected to be on traffic in the city.
They are advising householders and businesses to "take precautionary measures to protect property."
It follows a national yellow weather alert for Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo.
Met Éireann is warning of rainfall of between 25 and 40mm until 6pm this evening.
