One passenger has been hospitalised after a flight made an emergency landing at Belfast International Airport.

The Flybe service from Belfast to Inverness in Scotland was forced to land with no nose gear in place.

Flight BE-331 took off from Belfast City Airport just after 11.00am and landed at Belfast International just after 1.30pm.

However the airline says the Bombardier Q-400 aircraft landed with no nose gear in place.

A passenger was taken to hospital with a minor hand injury following the incident.

A Flybe spokesperson confirmed there were 52 passengers and four crew members on board.

"Our primary concern is for the welfare of the passengers and crew", they added.

The airline says it is sending a specialist team to Belfast to offer assistance, adding: "we will now do all we can to understand the cause of this incident."

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said fire crews were on standby at the airport.

However no action was required from them.
