The German airline Lufthansa has cancelled around 100 flights in and out of Ireland and the UK today as staff embark on 24 hour strike action.
A statement on the airline's website said only 20 of the 1,650 planned Lufthansa short-haul flights around Europe will operate today due to the limited flight schedule.
The three biggest airports in Germany will be affected; Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf.
The industrial dispute has been called as workers demand a 5.2% increase in wages. The company had originally offered a 1.2% increase from October and a further 0.5% increase a year later, but said they could not offer employees job safety.
Lufthansa has described the action as 'absurd' and says the 24 hour staff outage will cost the airline tens of millions of euros.
Intending Irish passengers are being advised to check the status of their booking before leaving for the airport. The airline says it is working to book people on to alternative flights.
