Two dead, including one garda, in Louth shooting incident

Two people, including one garda, have been killed in a shooting incident near the town of Omeath in Co Louth.

The incident occurred at around 6pm on Sunday evening, when shots were fired after gardai were called to a domestic dispute in the vicinity of Mullach Alainn estate.

Body of homeless man discovered on Westmoreland Street in Dublin city centre

It's claimed that a homeless man found dead in Dublin city this morning - was lying on the street for two hours while passers-by took photographs.

The man who was aged in his 30s - had been sleeping rough in a doorway on Westmoreland Street.

Standing ovation for Paul O'Connell

Inspirational captain Paul O'Connell, along with Johnny Sexton, Keith Earls and Peter O'Mahony all had to come off injured, but it will be Paulie's injury that hurts both team and fans the most. 

In tribute to the incredible career of the man who was being taken off the pitch, the entire stadium rose in tribute to Paul O'Connell and gave him a standing ovation as he was stretchered off.

Betsy Andreu appeared on the Colette Fitzpatrick Show to talk about the new Lance Armstrong movie starring Ben Foster, The Program, and how close it was to real life. 

When asked if there was anything that she'd say to Lance directly, she added that she's not sure that there is little that anyone can say to him, but that he should think of what effect his actions are having on his family:

"For the love of you own children, just stop. Make amends with every single person [...] but I honestly don't think there's anything that anyone can say to him". 

Hikers record scary footage as footbridge collapses underneath them

Four french hikers can count themselves very lucky after the footbridge they were using to cross over a lake collapsed while they were walking across it.

One of the main cables supporting the bridge gave way, throwing the entire party eight metres down in to the water below, but thankfully they were all OK and came out of the incident without injuries.
