Mick Wallace and Clare Daly face backlash after comments in wake of Paris attacks

A series of coordinated attacks in Paris on Friday claimed the lives of at least 132 peopleTributes poured in from leaders around the world, with US President Barack Obama calling it "an attack on all of humanity and the universal values we share".

However, Mick Wallace and Clare Daly both turned to Twitter to question the role of France in "the militarisation of the planet". 

Man who tackled suicide bomber in Beirut saved "hundreds" of lives

Friday night's attacks in Paris were not isolated, as similar violence erupted in Beirut and Baghdad over a horrific 48 hours

The Bourj al-Barajneh district, a well-known part of Beirut filled with shops, cafes and restaurants, was struck by an attack from two suicide bombers during the evening rush hour on Thursday. 

The attacks claimed the lives of at least 43 people and injured a further 230, but it is believed that the death toll could have been much worse were it not for the actions of Adel Termos. 

Landmarks across the world lit up red, white and blue in show of solidarity with France

Landmarks have been lit up and vigils held around the world in a show of solidarity with France in the aftermath from the Paris attacks.

As the Eiffel Tower stood dark in a symbol of mourning, the London Eye, Tower Bridge and the National Gallery were lit up in the red, white and blue of the French tricolour, along with monuments from around the world. 

Pianist plays John Lennon's 'Imagine' on streets of Paris

A pianist took to the streets with a touching performance of John Lennon's song 'Imagine' near one of the sites of Friday night's attacks in Paris.

In the wake of the attacks, the song became widely shared on social media, with people highlighting the line that says "imagine all the people living life in peace".

UFC world left stunned as Ronda Rousey loses World title in second round
