Friday night's attacks in Paris were not isolated, as similar violence erupted in Beirut and Baghdad over a horrific 48 hours

The Bourj al-Barajneh district, a well-known part of Beirut filled with shops, cafes and restaurants, was struck by an attack from two suicide bombers during the evening rush hour on Thursday.

The attacks claimed the lives of at least 43 people and injured a further 230, but it is believed that the death toll could have been much worse were it not for the actions of Adel Termos.

According to reports, Termos made a decision to tackle the second bomber after hearing the first blast go off, and while it meant that he lost his life, physician Elie Fares told PRI that "he tackled him to the ground, causing the second suicide bomber to detonate. There are many many families, hundreds of families probably, who owe their completeness to his sacrifice".

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the bombings, and following the pattern of the other attacks this week, "this time around the sense is that these are people, period," said Fares. "They're dead because of something they had absolutely no role in".

However, the bravery and selflessness of Termos' sacrifice has been widely recognised on social media.

Although it was believed that his daughter had also been killed in the attacks, it is now being reported that she survived and has apparently been pictured paying tribute to her father in a ceremony to remember those who lost their lives in the blasts.
