UK Brexit Minister says border pledge not legally binding

Britain’s chief Brexit negotiator has claimed the deal on the Irish border was a “statement of intent” rather than a binding agreement.

David Davis told BBC television the agreement will not be “legally enforceable” if talks on a future trade deal collapse.

He insisted however, that the UK would work towards keeping a “frictionless and invisible” border adding that lawmakers would “find a way” to ensure it remains that way if the UK walks away from the next phase of talks without a deal.

Trump Israel announcement labelled a "dangerous violation of international law"

The Arab League has slammed US President Donald Trump over his decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, calling it a "dangerous violation of international law."

The organisation called on the US to abandon the move and said it would seek a United Nations Security Council resolution rejecting the decision.

In a statement, foreign ministers of the group’s 22 member states said President Trump's announcement will lead to increased violence throughout the region.

Former celebrity publicist Max Clifford has died in hospital after collapsing in prison in Britain.

The British Ministry of Justice said the 74-year-old had a heart attack after collapsing twice at Littlehey Prison in Cambridgeshire, where he was serving an eight-year jail sentence for historic sex offences.

A spokesman confirmed Clifford he died in hospital on 10 December.

Chris Rea in a "stable condition" following collapse on stage

Driving Home for Christmas singer Chris Rea is in a "stable condition" after he collapsed on stage while performing in Oxford on Saturday.

South Central Ambulance Service said paramedics were alerted at 9.30pm to the incident at the New Theatre Oxford, with one audience member describing the performer "falling into a clump."

The incident comes after the songwriter suffered a stroke last year.
