Five people have been hospitalised after a building collapsed in County Mayo this morning.

It happened at a pub with bed and breakfast accommodation on Main Street in Kilkelly at around 8:45am.

Gardaí and emergency services were called and five people were rescued from the building.

They were taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The street has been sealed off and local traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are asking people to avoid the area if possible.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) will now conduct separate investigations into what happened.
