Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary at Citywest in Dublin, in which a woman was assaulted.

Five men, armed with knives, gained entry to a house in the Belfry area of Citywest just before eight o'clock.

They threatened and assaulted a 33 year old woman, who was the sole occupant of the house at the time of the incident.

A substantial amount of cash was taken during the burglary.

The men fled the scene in a car taken from outside the house.

The car was later recovered in the Glenshane area of Tallaght and has been preserved for technical examination.

In a follow up search a 17 year old male was arrested - he is currently being detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
