A fishing boat has been detained in the Irish Sea this evening.

The LÉ Orla was conducting a routine fisheries protection patrol this afternoon when it came across the vessel.

The boat and its crew were detained.

The boat and around half a dozen crew members arrived at port in Howth at around six o'clock this evening, where they were handed over to gardaí.

An investigation is continuing.
