Pixar have just released the first clip for their latest animated short Sanjay's Super Team.

In the first trailer for the short, viewers are introduced to Sanjay, a cartoon-loving kid, and his religious Hindu dad, a premise which marks the first time the studio has explicitly made religion the subject of a film.

The short is directed by first-timer Sanjay Patel, an animator on Monster’s Inc. and The Incredibles.

Having previously won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short three times - Tin Toy that played before Toy Story, Geri's Game with A Bug's Life, and For The Birds with Monsters Inc. - and nominated a further two times on top of that, between Sanjay's Super Team and Lava - which came paired with Inside Out earlier this year - expect Pixar to get at least nominated at least once come the next Oscar season.

Sanjay's Super Team will be played out in front of Disney and Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, which will arrive in Irish cinemas from November 27th.
