The Finance Minister is to make fresh efforts to negotiate a deal on our bank debt.
Michael Noonan is beginning talks in Europe tonight amid reports of a delay on a possible deal.
It comes after an October deadline was put on the agreement reached at the leaders’ summit in June to renegotiate the burden on our bank debt.
It was agreed to try and ease the burden on as much as €50 billion of our debt.
It had been hoped a deal would be finalised next month but that deadline now appears to be slipping.
Minister Michael Noonan says that may not be a bad thing.
But he hopes to ensure his European colleagues are fully up to date on discussions.
