A fifth man has been arrested in connection with an attack on a repossessed house in Strokestown, County Roscommon in December.

The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested after a search at a house in the Killoe area of Longford this morning.

Gardaí said he was arrested part of ongoing investigations into incidents that took place at Falsk in Strokestown on December 16th.

Eight security men were injured, a dog was killed and six vehicles were burnt out at the property on that date.

The attack came a number of days after a group of men were filmed forcibly evicting a local family from the home.

The man arrested this morning is being held Castlerea Garda station.

Two other men are currently before the courts in relation to the incident.

Gardaí said their investigation is ongoing.
