Fianna Fáil's promising to reverse cuts to single parents if they are part of the new Government.

The commitment was given in the party's election manifesto and spokesperson Willie O'Dea says they intend to keep to it if Fianna Fáil ends up in the coalition.

Deputy O'Dea says one of his first priorities if in power will be giving back to single working parents:

Meanwhile, negotiations are continuing behind the scenes to try to form a new Government.

On Thursday during the first meeting of the 32nd Dáil, new deputies will vote to decide if Enda Kenny, Micheál Martin or Gerry Adams should be the new Taoiseach.

However, it is understood the parties and independents will take a number of weeks to agree on a coalition.

The Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil parliamentary parties met separately earlier this week.

Both sides have said they will not enter into government together. However, with no party coming close to an overall majority it is expected they will reach a deal to form a government.

Independent Alliance TDs have already met the Taoiseach over their demands for government.

Deputy O'Dea hopes everyone can work together to get a result on Thursday.
