A bride was left devastated just hours after she walked down the aisle when her father died suddenly at her wedding reception.

According to the Irish Independent, the incident occurred at Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey, Co. Donegal on Saturday night.

Michael Mullan was celebrating his daughter, Celine’s, wedding when he suddenly fell on the dancefloor.

"It was 10.10pm and he was dancing with a bridesmaid when he suddenly fell and died," the hotel owner Barry Jackson told 'The Star' newspaper.

"It was one of the last songs before the band was to finish, which was to be followed by a disco.

"There was a nurse at the wedding who desperately tried to resuscitate him while my son called a doctor and ambulance.
