All four Irish siblings from the Halawa family are in military custody in Egypt.

The three sisters and one brother aged between 17 and 27 had been trapped in a beseiged mosque in Cairo which was cleared by the Egyptian military yesterday afternoon.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Joe Costello says they are now being held in the Tora Prison in Cairo, and officials are trying to find out if they're safe and secure.

Speaking in Dublin, their older sister Nusayba Halawa says she has spoken to a girl, who met at least one sister in custody:

The EU has warned it will review it's relations with Egypt if there is no end to violence in the coming days.

860 people are now known to have died in the unrest since Wednesday with reports of  38 Muslim Brotherhood supporters being killed in a prison riot today.

Today protesters in Dublin took to the streets of the capital demanding the Irish Government intervene.

Yesterday, members of the Irish Anti-War Movement picketed the Egyptian and US Embassies in Dublin, demanding the expulsion of the Egyuptian ambassador from the country.

More than 860 people have been killed since the violence peaked on Wednesday.

The EU has issued a statement this morning saying it will review it's relations with Egypt in the coming days as the violence shows no sign of ending.

The President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso have called on all sides to show restraint and prevent further escalation of the violence.

While the Egyptian interim army-backed government has begun deliberations on whether to ban the Muslim Brotherhood. The party had been outlawed for a long time before it came to power in democratic elections over a year ago.
