Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has been named as the most generous man in America.

He's topped a list of the biggest charity donors in the United States for 2013.

The 29-year-old and his wife donated almost a billion dollars worth of Facebook shares to a Silicon Valley charity last month.

Nike chairman Phil Knight comes second on the list, which is compiled by the Chronicle of Philanthropy, for pledging half a billion dollars to a cancer research programme in Oregon.
