Facebook charity group helps homeless people keep their dignity

A new Facebook group designed to help homeless people retain their dignity has already gained hundreds of followers.

'Blessings in a Bag' was set up by County Leitrim mum Angie Dixon, after she heard about the death of Jonathan Corrie.

Jonathan had been living on the streets of the capital when he was found dead in a doorway near the Dáil this week.

Angie has now asked members of the public to create their own mini survival packs for people sleeping rough and post photos of them on Facebook.

Bags should contain items ranging from hats and gloves to toothbrushes and first aid kits.

Angie says it's not a permanent solution to the homeless crisis, but it is a kind gesture:
