A 25-year-old former soldier from Cork has been jailed for 8 years for stabbing his cousin 15 times.
Last month, Anthony Leahy of Sirius House, Cork Road in Passage West was cleared by a jury of murdering Jonathan Daly and was instead found guilty of his manslaughter on January 19th last year.
10 years with the final 2 years suspended was the sentence imposed today on former soldier Anthony Leahy.
He stabbed his cousin Jonathan Daly to death following a row outside his own apartment where they had spent the evening drinking.
25-year-old Daly was described in court as a lovely man who was the demon when he had a drink on him.
The court heard the row broke out after he threatened to smash Anthony Leahy's girlfriend's brain in and murder her family.
