Dáil set to debate water charges tomorrow, as government talks continue

The Dáil looks set to debate water charges tomorrow, but a vote on scrapping or suspending them is unlikely.

Fianna Fáil says it can no longer support Fine Gael in blocking the issue from being debated in the chamber by TDs.

It comes as the two parties continued talks Tuesday night in an effort to facilitate a minority government.

Twitter users have also expressed their frustration that very few members of the Dáil turned up for a debate on mental health in the chamber.

It appears that less than 10 deputies were present for the discussion.

Luas warns drivers their pay will be cut by 10% if disruption continues

Luas operator Transdev says it will cut drivers' pay by 10% from this Friday if their work to rule continues.

"If the work to rule continues beyond 4am on Friday 29th April 2016 and drivers do not commit to carry out the full range of duties required under their contracts of employment from that time, Transdev will reduce the driver grade's pay for the duration of the work to rule by an initial percentage of not less than 10% of the basic salary of those employees", it says

The company says the reduction reflects additional operational and payroll costs being incurred by them as a result of the disruption.

Global banking network in cyber fraud danger

Swift, the network which thousands of banks around the world use to transfer millions in funds daily, has issued a significant malware warning.

According to Reuters, the cooperative of 3,000 financial institutions revealed that it had become aware of "a number of recent cyber attacks" on Monday.

Its client software is being targeted.
