Three dead following avalanche in French Alps
Three people have died and several others have been badly injured after an avalanche hit a group of school pupils skiing in the French Alps.
Two of the deceased were teenagers, including a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old, while the body of a Ukrainian skier was also found by rescue teams.
Among the injured, two pupils were said to have suffered cardiac arrest while another was described as seriously hurt.
All other students from the group had been accounted for and were safe, the interior ministry said.

A petition to put Conor McGregor's face on the €1 coin has been deemed inadmissible.
It has been struck down by the Oireachtas Petitions Committee, which says it could not contact the person responsible for submitting it.
However, it has urged anyone favouring the call to contact the Central Bank.
Motorists urged to take extra care as snow and ice warnings come into effect
The cold weather is set to continue, as Met Éireann has issued snow and ice warnings across the country.
An orange warning is in place for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Snow accumulations of between 4 and 8cms are forecast from midnight tonight until midnight on Thursday.
A yellow warning is in place for Longford, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon.

The Irish Cancer Society has partly reversed its decision to stop financial support for cancer patients.
It says support for the families of children with cancer will continue.
Yesterday, the charity said it would have to stop paying the grants to patients because it no longer had the resources to do so.
