Martin O'Neill pays tribute to his players as Ireland goes down battling

The Boys in Green were knocked out by hosts France in the Round of 16 after a gutsy performance in Lyon.

They had taken the lead into half-time but two goals from Antoine Griezmann helped France turn the game around against the 10-men of Ireland.

O'Neill was disappointed to lose the lead but did not fault his players given how much effort they put into the performance.

Corbyn's cabinet collapse - Labour's shadow cabinet faces exodus

The UK's Labour Party is staring at civil war as 11 members of the shadow cabinet have stepped down today.

After shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn was sacked from his position in a late night call with Corbyn, 10 of his colleagues have followed him off the front bench.

While members of the party are calling for Corbyn to resign, the party's leader has confirmed he won't step down voluntarily, saying he won't "betray the trust" of those who elected him.

Exit poll shows growth in conservative support in Spanish election

Spain's conservative party has made gains in the general election following Brexit fears.

According to an exit poll for Spanish television station TVE, the incumbent Popular Party, led by caretaker Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, has finished stronger than the original election in December, though it is still short of a majority. 

The party is looking to finish on 137 seats, short of the 176 needed for an overall majority. 

Rollercoaster crash injures 10 in Scotland

Scottish emergency services say they're dealing with a "major incident" at a theme park in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.

Police have confirmed that 8 children and 2 adults were injured and that ambulances and the fire service are dealing with the situation.

The crash happened in the M&D's theme park shortly before 4pm.

Texans planning a Brexit-style 'Texit'

The US could be getting its own version of Brexit as secessionists are calling for an independence referendum for Texas.

The Texas Nationalist Movement has been campaigning since the 1990s to have Texas become an independent country, as it was between 1836-1845.
