Over 150 killed in Colombia landslides
It's believed that now up to 150 people have been killed in a series of landslides in the city of Mocoa, Colombia.
Red Cross officials say the death toll from mudslides in southern Colobia has reached 150 with 400 people believed to be injured.
Homes were destroyed and people killed in their sleep after the local river overflowed into the city of 350,000 people, which sits near Colombia's border with Ecuador.
Rescue 116 black box reveals "no mechanical anomalies"
According to the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU), Rescue 116's Black Box has shown there were no mechanical issues with the helicopter.
They said that the investigation is still at a preliminary stage but that "No mechanical anomalies have been identified" during the initial analysis.
The AAIU says they've issued the report as this type of aircraft is in operation around the world and many people would be anxious to know if any immediate safety actions were required.
ASTI to ballot members for industrial action
The Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland is to ballot its members for industrial action over redundancy fears.
The union made the decision at a meeting of its Central Executive Committee today.
It says that a number of unnecessary redundancies are planned and it needs to protect its members.
Woman dies after being hit by train in Mayo
A woman has been killed after being hit by a train in Co Mayo.
It's understood that she was chasing her dog across a level-crossing near Straide, at around 11.30am this morning when the accident happened.
Services have been cancelled and the scene has been sealed off for examination.
Leinster's Joey Carbey basks in "super day" glow against Wasps
It's been a "super day" for Leinster's Man of the Match Joey Carbery by his own admission as he helped inspire a European Champions Cup quarter final win over Wasps.
The 21 year old was making just his fourth ever Champions Cup appearance for the province but shone individually in the 32-17 win.
Speaking to Newstalk's Dave McIntyre after the match, Carbery expressed his delight.
"It's a super day for me. I'm absolutely loving it but it's an even bigger day for the team and to have 50,000 people out there cheering us on made it a crazy atmosphere out there and I loved every minute of it," he said
